THE LOLA T90/00

Indy 500 winner Arie Luyendyk in the Domino's T90/00.
1990 would be the year that Lola would have their most successful season in Indycar racing, although they had won the Championship twice before it was never with this level of dominance. Their previous best year had been with the T800 when Mario Andretti took the title and the design won nine races, this year Al Unser Jr. was Champion and Lola won twelve out of sixteen rounds.
The full technical details of the T90/00 can be found in the Lola Press Release below.
1990 saw Lola dominate the field in terms of numbers with only three of the new Penske PC-19 racing although, with Rick Mears, Danny Sullivan and Emerson Fittipaldi, driving they would always pose a strong threat in all rounds and they took four wins in the year, two to Sullivan and one each to Mears (plus the non-championship Marlboro Challenge race at Nazareth) and Fittipaldi. The only other marque competing was March with two Porsche-powered 80Ps but Teo Fabi and John Andretti could only manage a third and two fifths while Roberto Guerrero in the Alfa-Romeo engined 90CA took a single fifth.
As for the Lola drivers it was all about two men, Al Unser Jr. and Michael Andretti with Little Al just having the edge with six wins and the title to Michael's five and the runner-up spot. The only other T90/00 winner was Arie Luyendyk but his win was the Indy 500!
