THE LOLA T55
All pictures copyright Lola Heritage unless otherwise stated.
Richie Ginther's MRP Lola T55 at the Pergusa GP, Enna. The outboard front suspension can be clearly seen.
The VI Trophée d'Auvergne at Clermont Ferrand in July saw the introduction of the T55 by the MRP team for Richard Attwood and Tony Maggs. Changes from the T54 were the adoption of rose joints to replace rubber bushes in the suspension and the spring/damper units at the front were moved outboard. The three MRP cars, BRJ 57, BRJ 60 and BRJ 63 were all converted to the T55 spec according to the Lola Chassis Log and it maybe that the John Willment Automotive team chassis SL2/34 (built by Lola as a MK5A) was also converted for Paul Hawkins and, on one occassion Richie Ginther, but there is no record on the Chassis Log, Perhaps Willment did the conversion themselves?
Results did not appear to improve noticeably so it may be that the chassis was starting to show its age compared to the new designs from Lotus and Brabham.
Year(s) of Construction: 1964
Total Lola Built: 3 (BRJ 57 - BRJ 60 - BRJ 63)
