John R. Wright has sent us some more pictures of Lola's competing in North America.
Bill Hirst's Lola. Bill purchased the Lola from Stu Lamont who purchased it from Grant Clark (who may not have paid Eric Broadly for the car). Stu told me that for years he kept the number plate for the car buried in a pile of coal in his coal bin so that if anyone showed up to claim it he could say he knew nothing...
...At one time it was powered by a BMW engine. Bill died in his sleep and the car is now in the USA.
John DeMaria in an early Lotus and Bill Hirst in the Lola going down through Corner Two at Mosport, just about in the same place Jackie Ickx shoved Jackie Stewart off into the weeds in the 1969 Players F1 GP.
Road America in 2008, a GT40 chases a T70.
Positions reversed!
T70 at the same meeting.
A F5000 T400 sits next to a F1 Williams FW07.
The 1974 F1 T370 at Road America in 2008.
The Sports 2000 T492 of Canadian vintage racer Walter Davies.
One of the CanAm T160 series Lolas sits next to a 1978 F1 Shadow DN8.
Horst Kroll's Lola T142 which he used to win a Gulf Canada series race at Harewood Acres after Eppie Wietzes in a Lola and Bill Brack in his Lotus GTX dropped out. Gord Green finished second in a Lotus Formula B car.
Race winner Jackie Stewart (T260) battles with the McLaren M8Fs of Denny Hulme and Peter Revson in the 1971 Labatt Can-Am at St Jovite.
