The gypsy life on the 1960s racer are captured in these pictures from Petri Hitches featuring his father David.

Petri Hitches told us about his father David racing a Mk1 in Finland HERE, Petri has now sent a fascinating selection of pictures of some of his father's, very successful, racing exploits in his Mk1 sportscar and the Mk5 Formula Junior.

Some idea of the miles he must have covered can be seen from the fact that he was racing one weekend in Finland and then in Italy for another.

1st place in Heat 1( plus fastest lap). Tragically Örjan Atterberg lost his life on the first lap of the final race, and the circuit was thereafter permanently closed. He holds the Lap Record of 57.1 secs @ 126km/h in a Lola Mk5 Ford.
