T70 SL71/35 has recently been acquired by Anthony Galliers-Pratt from John Hugenholtz and below previous owner John tells us something of its history and its return to the track.

"I found the tub in California and had it rebuilt over a one year period, showing and racing for the first time since 1966 at the Monterey pre-Historics this year. There I did 2 races, and at the Historics another.

Then we shipped the car to the UK for the Goodwood Revival where it raced on the Saturday."

"This car was bought by Mecom for AJ Foyt to race with Goodyear paying for the car.

It did 3 races in 1966 (Riverside and Nassau) with a 7-litre Ford engine and retired every time with overheating problems.

I have had confirmation that the cars sat for more than 10 years in a corner of AJ Foyt's workshop and slowly lost most of its components.

It ended up with Lilo Buzieron who rebuilt the car for me with a 350 c.i. Chevy on Webers; it's according to 1966 FIA specs with solid discs, bolt-on wheels and a 4-speed Hewland."
