1979 LOLA T530 HU1

pic

Seattle in the mid-ninties, Pieter in the T530 chases the McLaren with Maurizio Gugelmin in the driving seat.

The 1980 Carl A. Haas Racing Team Can-Am Lola-Chevrolet T530 chassis HU1 is at this time owned by Pieter Baljet who resides in Duncan, British Columbia, Canada.

It is currently "wearing" the bodywork it ran in 1981 when it was driven by Jeff Wood as the Landmark Oil car although it is in the 1980 Magicolor Red.

The roll hoop extension is for the current owner but was installed with no structural changes so the car can be returned to original.

Seattle again, two of the great names in Can-Am, the T530 closes in on a McLaren. A little over a decade's aerodynamic development between the two cars is clear.

Another picture from Seattle shows the two eras of Can-Am, the later centre-seat Lolas (first and third in the picture) are chased by the earlier two-seater McLarens.
