With an Invoice date from the Lola factory of 15th April 1969 SL38 was sold to Canadian Horst Kroll. It is possible that it may have raced in the UK at the start of 1969 but this is not certain.
Once shipped to Canada SL38 had its first race at Mosport Park on the 18th May for the first round of the Canadian Road Racing Championship where it finished fifth. During the course of a busy 1969 season SL38 competed in nine races in Canada scoring 5 second places as well as eight races in the USA with a best finish of 4th at Sebring in December.
SL38 continued to race in Canada during 1970 competing in 5 races and taking one win in the Canadian Road Racing Championship at Harewood Acres in August.
1970 and 1971 saw Kroll racing SL38 in the US as Canada abandoned F5000. 1970 saw 8 races with a best finish of 7th and 1971, 8 starts with a best finish of 6th.
Kroll retained SL38 until it was sold to Aldo Bigioni 1980, in good but unrestored condition. It was then sold to Dick Baker in July 1987; restored in 1993/94.
Raced in vintage racing by Brad Baker 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997 and 2000.
Duncan Baker 1995.
Dean Baker 1996.
Sold to David Gathercole (Peterborough, UK) Nov 2006.
Phil Walker was the next owner and he raced SL38 on the UK tracks in 2008.
In 2009 Phil Walker sold the car to new owner Adam Simmonds.
This car has chassis plate 38 and frame tag 26.
