The new owner of T142 SL21, Brenton Griguol tells us of its history:

Lola T142 1969, F.I.A. Registered by Roger Stones

Believed to be the only T142 with matching chassis plate and tag SL21.

Believed to be the only T142 with continuous history.

The 1968 December race car/show car invoiced to Carl Haas 1-1-1969

Drivers Hobbs 3 races - Deitrich 6 - Gardner test time.

SL21 was one of a pair of cars delivered to Carl Haas - Hobbs 3 races.

Frank Gardner was sent to the USA, he cut the 2nd car (number unknown) and added five and one eighth inches into the chassis. In their words it turned the car into a “sweetheart” thus SL21 became surplus to requirements.

It can be assumed it was sold to Carl Hogan at this time. 6 races Chuck Dietrich.

There is no record of the car being raced in 1970/71. Raced by a club racer through 1972/73/74.

1974 the car was subject of a bankruptcy order and remained in a revenue pound for 7 years.

1981 sold to an Australian who also went bankrupt, the car was not sold by the receiver until 1984 when it was registered by Mr Lee in 1985.

The car was crashed repaired and sold to Mr Higton, at this point it joined a collection of Ferrari's and Bugatti's in a private museum until acquired by Mike Gore in 1989.

The car was sent for auction in London at which point it came into the hands of Lincoln Small:
"I purchased the car from Lincon Small through Agent Tony Hilderbrand on the 7th of January 1994 and SL21 had been returned to her original show colour as she is to this day."
Mr Small states he did not race the car.

A considerable amount of work was required before I was prepared to put old bones in front of 508 bhp of Traco horses!!!.

SL21 has been hill climbed and raced a few times each year finance permitting [given the cars history!].

1998 I felt that a substantial amount of replacement parts was required and carried this out. Racing Continued at Silverstone, Mallory and Oulton until 2002/3.

A three year total rebuild was started at the end of 2004 following a year of incapacity.

The chassis: Supercharger Services,
Engine: 1998 by Graham Hickman 2005 by Alex Doig Chevy specialist.
Crack testing: Creasey Castings,
Hewland LG600 Gearbox: R.T.S.
Final set up by Tony Steele a well known Lola expert and racer, 40 Test laps successfully completed at Oulton. In both wet and dry conditions.

This has been a total rebuild with every part being replaced with new with the exception Of the steering rack, brake callipers, drive shafts, chassis, engine & gearbox of course all
Refurbished to new status."

Research remark “Probably the most original T142 in existence”, Alan Putt F.I.A. Registrar.

Sold to Brenton Griguol of North Adelaide, South Australia 28th December 2009, arrived in Australia 24th March 2010.
