Lola Cars has signed a new partnership with sustainable luggage manufacturer, Solgaard.
The agreement sees Solgaard become the Official Luggage Supplier to both the storied motorsport manufacturer and its Formula E team, supplying personnel with suitcases and backpacks throughout the season. In turn, the brand’s logo will be featured on the front wing endplate of the Lola Yamaha ABT Formula E car, currently competing in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.
A certified B-Corporation, the brand pays particular attention to its supply chains and materials, designing and manufacturing products to prioritise efficiency and circularity. Solgaard, in cooperation with The Solgaard-Nyx Foundation and its group of global collection partners has helped prevent over three million pounds (1,350,000kgs) of plastic from entering the ocean.
Solgaard’s proprietary sustainable fabrics and materials include the award-winning Shore-Tex® fabric, made from 100% recycled material and now used in all Solgaard bags and suitcases, and Shore-Plast™ a durable material made from ocean-bound plastic.
"As a motorsport engineering and technology company operating at the cutting-edge of innovation, including sustainable materials, Lola is constantly exploring the latest developments in environmentally friendly performance. Collaborating with partners who also pursue the same goals in their own industries is therefore a natural fit. We look forward to using Solgaard’s products as we follow the world’s most sustainable motorsport series, Formula E, around the globe this season, and to working together to achieve further success on and off the track.”
“At Solgaard, we’ve been committed to innovation and sustainability in equal measure. Beyond that, I’ve always loved going fast - whether that’s unpacking luggage or doing laps on a racetrack. This collaboration is a natural fit between my personal passion and business endeavours. I’m honoured to be working with Lola, a true leader in motorsport innovation, and thrilled to announce this new partnership.”
