This weekend, the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is heading to London for the final rounds of Season 11 and another home race for the Lola Yamaha ABT team. The E-Prix will be the first time a Lola factory team has raced on home soil since 5 May 2003, when it competed in the London Champ Car Trophy at Brands Hatch, resulting in a one-two finish for Sebastian Bourdais and Bruno Junqueira.
The 2.09km track weaves its way both inside and outside the London ExCeL exhibition centre, creating a unique challenge for the drivers and teams alike, with changes in surface, elevation and lighting. This should lead to thrilling and unpredictable racing for the fans, especially if it rains as the 22 racers battle it out on the 20-turn circuit to claim the final points of the season.
"I’m really looking forward to racing here in London. The circuit is so different from anything else we race on throughout the season, with the mix of indoor and outdoor elements and varying grip levels that keep us on our toes. There’s also always a fantastic atmosphere at the race. With all we’ve learnt over our first season as a team, I’m hoping we can pull everything together to finish on a high.”
“London is a really interesting track as a driver, with numerous challenges, surface changes and flowing chicanes. I’ve spent a lot of time in the sim preparing for the final rounds of my rookie season in Formula E and hopefully this, combined with the improvements we’ve made over the past few races, will enable me to score my first points for the team.”
“Berlin was a very challenging weekend for the team, with a big accident for Lucas, a technical issue for Zane and initial struggles with performance. However, we really came together as a team and showed large improvements in pace, both of which will set us in good stead for the final rounds of our first season here in London.”
"This weekend marks the final E-Prix of the season and our third home race. It has been a long and hard season, with many ups and downs, but we're hoping to end it with a strong performance, finishing in the points. Everybody has been working incredibly hard, and the team deserves a good result here in London.”Heading into the race in London, the Lola Yamaha ABT team is eleventh in the Teams’ standings with 30 points.
