Former racing driver and motorsport content creator, Scott Mansell, impressed with his pace during the Formula E Evo Sessions in Miami on March 5th and 6th.
Drawing on his previous experience both on the track and as a driver coach, Scott fully immersed himself with the Lola Yamaha ABT team, spending two days in the simulator before heading to Miami to continue his training on the ground with the engineers and Formula E rookie, Zane Maloney.
He continued to improve throughout the sessions before posting a blistering lap time that was just over a second off the fastest time set by the regular Formula E drivers for all of the teams.
“The Formula E Evo Sessions were absolutely fantastic. Driving the T001 is some of the most fun I’ve ever had in a race car and also the most different to anything I’ve driven before. The amount of information the drivers have to process when they are racing about the car, the energy management and the software that’s involved is incredible.
“Zane helped me an unbelievable amount to understand all of this data, he’s been very open sharing all of his knowledge and answering the many questions I had. I really enjoyed working with the Lola Yamaha ABT team whose input and support enabled me to get the most out of the car, ultimately setting the fastest time of the Evo Sessions on my final lap.”
“It was an amazing experience for me to work with the team and with Scott during the Evo Sessions. The whole team was impressed by Scott’s understanding of the data, his dedication and pace, and we look forward to hopefully working with him again in the future.”
The pairing also topped the time sheets of the sim racing competition which took place during the Evo Sessions. The professional driver and content creator for each Formula E team drove laps of the Berlin E-Prix track in the sim and combined their times to give an overall total, with Lola Yamaha ABT edging out the competition.
