The 1985 T710 AKA the Corvette GTP had proved to be fast but unreliable although it did take two wins at the beginning of the 1986 IMSA season before being replaced by the T86/10.

Unfortunately there are no details of the design of the T86/10 in Lola Heritages but visually it is almost identical to its predecessor, it was styled to look like a road-going Corvette and there are small changes to the ducting on the nose-piece and the rear mounted radiators. HU01, initially, employed the same 3.4 litre turbocharged V6 Chevrolet engine although, later in the season, a 3 litre turbocharged V6 was fitted. HU02 was the same except that a 6 litre normally aspirated unit was employed. HU03 also used the six litre engine.

HU03, the /12 car, was basically the same as the /10 car but it was fitted with active suspension which was the latest technological innovation in the mid-1980s that was first used on the 1983 Lotus 92 F1 car. There is an excellent article on the development of active suspension in F1 before it was finally banned by the FIA HERE. Testing the car showed the system had promise but given the problems F1 teams had in developing their designs with the amount of finance available to them it was unlikely that Lola would be able to fully develop their system unless they felt it had a commercial advantage.

HU01 was the primary race car for the Hendrick team in 1986 and 1987 competing in 21 races.
