The T582 at the Lola factory.

There is little to say about the 1981 T582 model as there were only two cars built and it recorded no wins.

Following on from the race-winning T580, it was designed to follow the latest fashion in motorsport, ground effects which had proved so successful in Formula One with the Lotus 78 and 79 cars. Both FFord 1600 and FFord2000 saw a handful of ground-effect cars introduced but the only ones that proved successful were the Van Diemen designs but most manufacturers preferred not to go down this route and there didn't seem to be any advantage in following the new trend in these smaller formulae.

Full details of the design can be seen below in the Lola Specification Sheets and the Autosport article.

Year(s) of Construction: 1981
