Alain Cudini finished second in the 1976 European Formula Renault Championship.

In 1969 the French racing authorities introduced Formula France, an alternative to Formula Vee as a starting point for young drivers. The cars used the 1.3-litre Renault 8 engine and allowed wings and slicks and proved very popular, the formula changing its name to Formule Renault Nationale in 1971. In 1972 Challenge de Formule Renault Europe was instituted as the next step up the ladder after Formule Renault Nationale and to give the drivers more power the 1.6-litre Renault Gordini R engine was specified. The new formula proved so popular that in 1974 France abandoned Formula 3 in favour of Super Renault and its effectiveness can be judged with future Formula One stars Alain Prost, Jacques Lafitte, Didier Pironi, Rene Arnoux and Patrick Tambay making their mark.

Not surprisingly, given its French roots, for several years it was dominated by French manufacturers, primarily Martini, but in 1975 Lola introduced the T410 and, in 1976, it made its mark with Alain Cudini winning twice at Nogaro and once at Paul Ricard which, with a number of second places, saw him to finish the year as runner-up to the Champion Didier Pironi. During the season a young Alain Prost, then racing in Formule Renault Nationale had two outings in a T410, at Dijon where he won his heat but retired in the final and Zolder where he spun off after starting from the second row.

As can be seen from the pictures and drawings below the T410 was a small, neat design with outboard suspension front and rear and a straightforward narrow aluminium monocoque.
