The SCCA/USAC F5000 Championship ended in 1976 following requests from race promotors that the Can-Am series should be revived for 1977. Since it was unlikely that a F5000 series and a Can-Am series could co-exist without both losing out the SCCA went with Can-Am. With the new Can-Am having a 5-litre maximum capacity most teams opted for converting their F5000 cars to "sports cars" by adding a new body kit.

Carl Haas, in conjunction with Lola, offered a conversion kit for the T332C calling the new car a T332CS, the "CS" standing for "centre seat". This meant that, although there were several T332CS competing, there were no new cars constructed by Lola to CS spec, all CS cars were updates. Although the car ran well in Can-Am it played second fiddle to the new Lola, the T333CS.
