Bobby Rahal has returned to his early racing days with a pair of Lolas, here he tells us more.

Bobby Rahal has sent us a picture of his T360 and T290 and some details of their history:

"The picture above was taken this past summer at Watkins Glen.

The T360 HU-9 was my first formula Atlantic car and one I raced throughout the 1975 Players Formula Atlantic season.

The T290 HU-34 is the car I raced in 1973/74. I won my first championship (1974) in this car and won approximately 10 races over a two year time period.

I have owned both these cars for approximately 10 years.

Lola T212 HU-34 is on its way to Hall and Hall to have an engine fitted and I will race this car in selected historic races in the UK and Europe in 2010."

Bobby had a mixed 1975 season in his T360, at the opening round of the Players (Canadian) Formula Atlantic Series at Edmonton he qualified 2nd fastest but retired after 28 laps. Round 2 at Westwood saw Bobby on pole but in the race he could only finish 6th chasing Gilles Villeneuve home.

Gimli was the venue for the third round and once again Bobby finished behind Villeneuve but this time he was in 2nd place. It was a DNF for the T360 at St Jovite for Round 4 when Bobby qualified 3rd but he retired on the opening lap with a misfire. Another pair of DNFs followed at the final two rounds at Mosport Park and Halifax.

In his final race of the year, an SCCA Formula Atlantic event at Brainerd in September Bobby finished second after qualifying on pole.
