Braselton, GA (October 20, 2007) - - Captivated by the sports racing car’s sleek lines and evocative name of it’s maker, Lola Cars, noted professional racing coach and vintage racing competitor Peter Krause was smitten by the sight of the company’s first production model, a 1959 Lola Mk 1, over two and a half decades ago when attending a vintage sports car race at Lime Rock Park in Connecticut. It would be another fifteen years before Krause would pilot a friend’s Lola T-212 FIA Group 6 2-liter sports racer at Savannah Georgia’s very fast Roebling Road circuit, merely setting the hook deeper.
Krause would go on to race several examples of the epochal manufacturer’s cars, ultimately winning back-to-back Historic Championships in the North America Chapter-Sports 2000 Racing Car Club in 2004 and 2005 with the third model in a line of successful cars built over a thirty-year span for this popular class in the UK, Scandinavia and the US. Krause’s low, sleek and devastatingly quick Lola T-590 was even able to win the Sports 2000 class at the prestigious SCCA National race at VIRginia International Raceway in 2005 and is still a force to be reckoned with today in vintage and historic competition with the current owner.

Co-organizer, along with fellow Lola owner Paul Tavilla, of the “30 Years of S2” celebration at the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) May 2007 Road America event at Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, a weekend that saw over eighty competitors in this historically significant class of car attend from all over the country, Krause has been a tireless cheerleader and promoter of historic sports and racing cars in general and Lola sports racing cars in particular.
Glyn Jones, head of Lola Heritage, a division of LOLA Cars International of Cambridgeshire, England , presented the 2007 Lola Heritage Trophy for Sportsmanship to Krause at SVRA’s season finale at Road Atlanta. Jones, in the US to finalize plans for Lola Heritage’s “50 Years of LOLA Cars” celebrations to be held in 2008, was pleased to recognize Krause’s contribution to the rising popularity of Lola cars in US vintage and historic racing. Jones also made mention of Krause’s contribution to the education of both new and experienced drivers as part of SVRA’s training and advanced coaching programs sponsored by Traqmate and UBS/Michael Stott, as well as his own professional coaching and instruction business, Krause & Associates LLC.

“I’m incredibly honored to have been recognized by Mr. Jones of Lola Heritage and particularly humbled by the support of the 2006 Lola Heritage Trophy winner, noted Lola collector and racer Johan Woerheide, in receiving this marvelous trophy here at Road Atlanta,” Krause said. “LOLA Cars International has really made a big effort, through the formation of Lola Heritage and the efforts of Glyn Jones, to support, promote and recognize vintage and historic Lola racing cars all over the world. I’m just so pleased that the manufacturer whose cars I fell in love with all those years ago care not just about the latest and greatest, but the cars that put them on the map and hold a place near and dear to our hearts.”
Lola Heritage, SVRA and selected other sanctioning bodies are putting the final touches on several notable race weekends that will feature “50 Years of LOLA Cars” in 2008.
