The T594 at the Lola factory.
The T594 saw Lola abandon the UK Sports 2000 series as, of the fifteen cars built, three went to Switzerland, one to Sweden and the remaining eleven to the USA where they raced with some success in the SCCA Sports 2000 championships.
Based on the much-improved T592 which always excelled on fast circuits and gave Larry Campbell the American title in 1981 the latest design benefits from greater downforce without sacrificing top end speed, revisions designed to aid chassis performance on tighter circuits. Lola's experience with the successful T600 IMSA GTP car's bodywork has helped to clean up the aerodynamics of the T594 considerably, the result being a much prettier car. Improved cooling, more efficient brakes (ventilated discs with four-pot calipers all round), reduced slipstream effect and many more detail changes have been incorporated in the chassis. The previously bare aluminium chassis panels on the side were now employing fibreglass ducting whilst the fairing on the roll hoop was integral with the top piece and not separately attached and no longer covered the entire hoop, just the lower section.
