DAMS TO DEFEND AUTOGP TITLE IN 2011
They won both the drivers and team championship, clinching 5 wins and 9 podium finishes. Now DAMS is preparing for 2011, with the clear aim of being again among the performance benchmarks of the Series and defending their titles.
"2010 was a great season for us" says team boss Jean-Paul Driot "we were on top right from the start with Piscopo and then things got even better with Grosjean. In the end we clinched a great 1-2-3 in the championship, also thanks to great performances and consistency from Tappy. So there's not much more to say, it couldn't be better than that. That's why I want to say thank you to all the guys in the team. They delivered a top-notch job at each race, they really deserve to be praised for this".
What do you think was the highlight of the season for your team?
"Well we had many good moments so it's difficult to choose. In the end I think it was Magny-Cours Race 1: being our home race it was very important for us and we had our best run of the season with Grosjean and Tappy finishing 1-2".So you will be there to defend your titles in 2011?
"It makes a lot of sense from every point of view. We already showed that we can be really competitive, and now we can make the most of the experience coming from one full season of racing with the Lola in Auto GP configuration. Besides this, we are the champion team and this means that there are a lot of drivers interested in contesting the season with us. We already had a good number of enquiries, so I can't see a reason to stop now. Furthermore, we feel committed to the championship, we like the formula and we think that the organization did a really good job in 2010, especially considering that it was the debut year of Auto GP".All pictures AutoGP.org.
