Lola T70 Mk III SL73/117

Postby montecarlo_2008 » Fri Nov 30, 2007 1:57 pm

Hallo,
is there anybody, who can help me to find some pictures and some facts about the Lola T70 Mk III, owned by the racing team of James Garner (American International Racing Team) as driven 1968 in Sebring 12 hours. I believe it must be SL73/117.
Thanks for your help, best regards Klaus

Hi Klaus, what information are you looking for exactly? SL73/117 recently changed hands and the new owner, Marc Devis, sent me some pictures of it this week which I will be adding to the T70 Coupe Chassis Register page in the next few days, if I get a spare minute! It is still in very original condition and still painted in the AIR colours.

If you let me know what you are after I'm sure Marc will be happy to answer any questions, as long as he knows the answer :D.

Gerald.

Hallo Gerald,
thanks for your prompt answer. The truth is, that I am running a small business for die-cast models in Salzburg. We are specialized in historic motor sport cars and I like to decorate all the small cars very extensive. So, all the cars are decorated with period photos of the original car in the original livery. That’s why I’m looking for a photo of SL73/117 because I believe it’s the car Lola T70 Mk.3 Chevrolet SL73/117 raced 1968 in Sebring 12 hour by American International Racing Team with number #8 driven by Lothar Motschenbacher/Ed Leslie/Dick Guldstrand. Unfortunately they didn’t finish, because a failure of the clutch in Lap 12.
So I well be pleased if there are any photos of the car from Sebring and it would be also very interesting how the car is looking now a days. Thanks for your help. Best regards, Klaus

These three wonderful cars are what I traded my Lola coupe for--a bit over two years ago. I actually drive and enjoy these, whereas the Lola had become too valuable for me to enjoy driving it.

I have over 6,000 miles on the Ariel Atom, and we were the fastest time of the day at the last two road race tracks I've been to. Great fun!

The Ultima is just about ready for some road race track testing, and I think it has great potential.

The Ford GT is really a brilliant automobile in its own right, a bit like a modern road-going Lola coupe but with all the amenities and comfort, and three year warranty! And almost as good-looking as the Lola.

Anyway, I miss the Lola, and I still think it is the most beautiful automobile ever built, but I am sure enjoying these!

Thanks for looking!
