European Sports Car Championspip 1972 - the new T290

Postby Wolfgang » Sat Jul 22, 2006 4:00 pm

European Sports Car Championspip 1972 was a very good year for the new Lola T290. Mr. Jo Bonnier fast expanding preparation and sales business as European Lola Agent had been working long nights to ready six of the T290 for the first round at Paul Ricard. Three cars were painted in the familiar JoBo colours of red, white and yellow and entert under Ecurie Bonnier, costumer Roand Heiler, Claude Swietlik and Jorg de Bagration. Bonnier, along with Frenchman Jean-Louis Lafosse were enterd and running under the colours of the French tabocco corporation and Scuderia Filipinetti in their T290s, Bonnier's car painted in attractive Gitane cegarette and Lafosse those of Flint. All these cars but one were fitted with specially built Bonnier FVC engines developed from that used by Helmut Marko on the Springbok Series .....
The sixt car was for the Italian Antonio Zadra. One more new T290 entry was Guy Edwards mit the Barclays sponsord car .......

You will find pdf's of the European Sports Car Championship 1972 from AUTOSPORT under http://www.racecar-collection.com/Autosport-1972.jsp with interesting details ... Look to the story of the Lola Abarth T290 by Mr. Osella, a pic: http://www.racecar-collection.com/LolaAbarthT290.jpg ....

Lola T290 1972

I read in the german "Sport Auto" March 72 that Mr. Pierre Maublanc started as the new sales agent of Lola racecars in France. Do he sell HU14+15 to french drivers ?

It is highly possible that MRS sold 2 cars to the french Minel Team
i have only 1 race for the driver Monot at Paul Ricard ( alain Hache said this car was hu15 ? ) Th edriver Nello Chelli has not been seen in a race entry list only at 2 events
I have not hear dofrm the french readrs if the Minel team raced in the french sports car series only
Autosport shows afew results/small race report but no details of cars drivers etc
Only the Kodak Barrie Smith car and the odd Barcleys Lola get mentioned

I have now found out that Moser was racing 290 hu 20 and 294 hu 71 cars

Yes, HU20 is the car of Mr. Nicodemi, raced with Silvio Moser together. His Mechanic Mr Beat Schenker say the car is still bei Mr. Nicodemi. I found 2 races:

Tonino Nicodemi / Silvio Moser I/CH # 9 Targa Florio, Sicily 21.5.1972 Cosworth BDG Silvio Moser Racing Team SA HU 020 AutoSport, NAVIAUX, Beat Schenker

Tonino Nicodemi / Silvio Moser I/CH # 25 1000 km Österreichring 25.6.1972 Abarth Jolly Club HU 020
