492 steering rack bellows

Postby Pel » Thu Apr 01, 2010 11:30 pm

does anybody have any information on what steering rack was used on the 492? I have recently come into possesion of chassis 77 which has been in storage since last raced in 1982. The bellows on the rack have completely disintegrated and I have had no luck finding something that will fit. Does anybody have information on this? Thanks

I am not sure what your aplication looks like?
I have found that http://mossmotors.com/ has an Austin Healy sprit MkIV boot worked on my T-190
Good luck,

It looks like this. Every chance it is off a Triumph Herald/Spitfire, but not sure. Also ask on your S2000 web site.

Just been told it is a Ford Escort Mk1 steering rack that is a left hand drive installed in the T 492 upsidedown.

The racks are very very rare in the UK but could be better to source in the USA.

Good luck. If you find a few please let me know; I would like to but one!

Graham.
