BRIC

Hello all.

I too will be at the BRIC, hoping to meet and talk with all the Lola T70 people who were at the USRRC and Can Am races in my attempt to find out all the last little bits of ownership history for my forthcoming book on the individual histories of ALL the T70s that were made by the factory. If there's anyone out there, (present owners included), who know more about their own cars than I already had in my previous book, "Lola T70-The Racing History", I'd love to know it please!

For instance, I now have only twelve T70s for which I have no history whatsoever. If anyone knows of the existance of a T70, (particularly the roadsters!) on which I had nothing, I'd love to hear it!

Looking forward to the BRIC!

Lolas at BRIC

Yes it should be good. I know that Panm has said that a lot more are coming so the field should be much larger than that.

I'm still going...and the offer to have a get-together still stands. I could get a grill and have bratwursts and beer or something. We need to organize a group photo.

Johan,

Your on!. I will plan on it. We will have our rig in the pits and probably have a barbeque as well. As it gets a bit closer we make make the plans.

Saturday night might be best. I think Thursday is a drivers dinner and cocktail event at the track - at least it was last year. Friday is the race car run into Elkhart Lake (we should all do this) and Saturday is the only "open" night so far although Victory Lane might do something as well.

Also I spoke to Dennis Gage of the TV show "My Classic Car" on Speed, and he plans to come with a film crew and do a segment about the BRIC and focus on Can Am cars. Dan Davis of Victory Lane Magazine has confirmed this so make sure those cars are sparkling!

I have a space in my trailer if anyone needs transport from the northwest or west coast.

I agree with Pat, and better to get to know each other at the begining of the event ...

I went to the Walter Mitty Challenge at Road Atlanta and we had lots of fun. The Lolas were very popular.

I have just returned from a meeting with George Brugenthiess, the President of Road America. I went up to the track and ran with SVRA last weekend and if you have never been there you will love it.
Parking is really going to be an issue. There is no way to coordinate parking together or anything like that. Renting a tent is 1000-2000 for the event so........
I have come up with a solution that I feel will be adequate.
On friday night there is a race car concours (show) in downtown Elkhart lake about 3 miles from the track. The police escort us to town in our race cars and we park outside of Siebkens bar and Brian Redman and others judge our race cars. We drink, eat, and mingle. We return back to the track, again under police escort, right before dark, with cars with headlights sort of interspersed with the race cars. You do not want to miss this !
It does not matter if you wax your car or have scratches. It costs 50 USD to enter the concours but we can all line up together there and walk around with drinks and look at all of the Lolas in a row, as well as many other fine race cars.. We can eat dinner as a group right there as well so it all seems to work out. The best part is that a bunch of great looking chicks will be loving your car as well. There are thousands of partying spectators at the concours friday night. Maybe a Lola will get an award, who knows ?
If you would like to attend Road America, better hurry and sign up.
Look here for the info...

BRIC Parking

Postby RSFCA » Fri May 26, 2006 11:56 pm

I talked to Dan and the parking grid sounds like we can get close together if the rigs all have can am cars. It sounds like the marshall will try to get the trailers closest together by the number of cam am cars that are in each rig. Ours will have two and two other cars so we may get put farther way. We are bringing Jim Galucci's Lola I believe but I don't see his name on the entry list yet.

Glad to hear Jim is coming but he has not entered yet so that is why his name is not on the list...I will add it and am glad he is coming.

That was fun. It was an honor to participate in the 40th Can Am reunion.
I enjoyed meeting Glyn and his better half Jeanette, shocked I'm sure by the abominable living conditions in our transporter. She asked me to clean up my room several times, or at least wanted to. Glyn, thank you
for all that you did to help us make the weekend a huge success. Glyn even gave me the "shirt off his back" prior to leaving. The shirts, caps, stickers, etc. seemed to be appreciated by the lola guys and I thought we had a nice showing of great cars and people.
It is always amazing to me how little time there is for socializing at the track. It seems that there is always something that should have been done an hour ago.
Pat Hogan, I have found a shirt for your son. Hope your car is OK.

Can Am Reunion

Postby RSFCA » Wed Jul 19, 2006 6:13 pm

Johan,

I second that!. It was a great time. I barely got to get around to see anything either as the practices and races kept us busy all of the time. Thanks for finding me on Sunday after the race to give me the Lola gifts, I appreciate that. I hope your toe wasn't broken in the process. You need to be careful on those scooters, they are dangerous!

CAN-AM Thunder - 30th Annerversary 1996 - Elkheadlake

Postby Wolfgang » Sat Jul 22, 2006 8:43 am

We was 1996 with the SuperSports-Cup from England by the reunion. My son Oliver drove the australian ELVIN of Harm Lagaay. In the suport-race (non CanAm cars) my team mate John Burton (Chevron B26) was first, Oliver and I (Lola T290) was second over all. It was a schock for the american drivers with the big cars! Your will find pics at: http://www.racecar-collection.com/CAN-A ... r-1996.jsp

best regards Wolfgang
