Cutting corners in 1968 !!

Here is a section thru a radius tube from my T160. It failed crack testing on the weld, so we decided to make 2 more. We sawed the old one open to find the threaded plug was bodged in. It was designed for a smaller tube, so was not properly supported.........a dangerous decision by someone at the works ??!!

Wow, that is horrible :cry:, I've seen some pretty nasty bodge jobs on old cars in my time and that features pretty high on the list.

I agree with Johan, I can't imagine Lola would ever turn out something like that.

No, of course not. It is missing the inner sleeve. That is why the rod end does not fit. The title of the thread should be changed to
"Cutting Corners in 1978 when restoring a Lola"
