50th ANNIVERSARY

Postby Gerald Swan » Fri Mar 07, 2008 9:01 pm

Hi everybody, just a heads up to tell you there's a new section added to the Heritage site today to celebrate the 50th Anniversary. You can access it from the Heritage Home page or directly at: http://www.lolaheritage.co.uk/50th.

We will be featuring tales of Lola's history, announcements and other (hopefully) fascinating things .

As ever if you have anything to contribute in the way of stories, pictures or suggestions for ways to celebrate the Anniversary this is the place to visit.

Gerald.

anniversary

Postby Tom Walker » Fri Mar 28, 2008 9:45 pm

Hi Gerald, as an over-excited new Lola owner, just about to reveal my newly restored T160, I wonder if there will be any organised events for us to bring our cars to. An obvious starter would be the Silverstone Historic meeting, (UK centric owner !) where there are always one-make gatherings. Surely in this important year for the marque, something should be organised !!??

The HSCC will be celebrating the anniversary at the Oulton Park Gold Cup meeting over the August bank holiday weekend.

Details are on the 50th Anniversary section on the Heritage website or visit www.hscc.org.uk

Hi Tom, things are being organised even as we speak :).

I will be adding details to the 50th Anniversary section as and when they are announced but if you want to have a word with Glyn Jones, GlynJones@lolacars.com, I'm sure he can let you know exactly what the latest position is.

Elkhart Lake KIC

Postby PSRyan » Wed Jun 18, 2008 3:45 pm

I had hoped to be at Mosport this weekend, but the car is not quite finished.

I am planning to bring the freshly restored T-70 Sunoco Special SL71/47 to the KIC July 17-20 as an entrant. Also the 1966 Indy 500 winning T-90/2 for display.

Who else plans to be there?

Pat, I will be at the KIC and should probably start some sort of thread about it. I'm bringing 5 Lolas, an Army Jeep and a Porsche in case the Lolas frustrate me to the point of treason. The plan is to display a few of our cars (as invited to do so by Road America at their discretion) at the Lola Sponsored welcome party for all event participants Thursday night and then Friday night we are driving our cars to downtown Elkhart Lake and will display them to the public. Then of course there is the racing ! We are not doing much more than that because there are too many different types to have an all Lola race and as far as parking together in a separate area of the paddock, I can't think of a bigger pain in the arse, and I don't want to give up the spot that I have had for years to go park in some silly tent. The only thing we have not organized that I would like to see is a group photo... Obviously, All Lola owners as well as enthusiasts are welcome to attend this event and stop by and say hello. Please, it will be another 10 years so donb't miss the opportunity to see the cars.
I look forward to seeing your car Pat. I bet it looks great ! So it is in raceable condition now ? Great !

Hi Johan,

I will be parking with the CanAm group, I think. Also entered the Lola in the race car concours. The group photo is a good idea.

I will be putting the fully restored T-70 up for sale after Monterey Historics.

Johan,
It doesn't look like I will make it to Road America this year. I'm behind prepping my T70 for the Monterey Historics, I have gearbox parts strewn all around the shop right now. I work 6 days a week on our farm fixing tractors and such, and it's pretty hard to turn wrenches on the Lola at night after turning them all day.

I"m pretty bummed out about not going, I thought I'd at least make it as a spectator.

Johan,
Very kind of you to offer, but I have everything to rebuild the Hewland and It's almost half-way back together. I am switching to a spare main case, so needed to do some additional setup and stud swapping. I will need to run the car somewhere to break in the new Ring and Pinion. I've been accepted to run in the Monterey Historics in August 15 - 17, so that is my next Vintage race.

I'm going to see if I can fly over Thursday and come home Monday. I really don't want to miss this event. Who knows what shape I'll be in 10 years from now!
