T70 Surge tank Help!

Postby john » Sun Feb 24, 2008 11:44 pm

Im looking for the original style surge tank for the T70 Spyder. Does anybody have one for sale or know where I can locate one? Or... have one made that looks like the original?

Thanks

On the Gurney T70 it was just a leaky old Harrison tank, which we repaired. An old Zerez antifreeze container serves as the puke tank.

Look here for "Expansion Tank" http://www.mamotorworks.com/corvette-1-0-1227.html

My Mk1 came with a cylindrical tank, not a Harrison type.

Do you still have it ? I have one and wonder if it is original. Which side of the car was it on ?

Here is a fuzzy photo of the tank. The neck was corroded and I didn't have a way to weld a new one back on, so I just cut upper neck off and added a hose connect to the new neck in brass. I later took it off and made a vertical type tank. the prev owner told me he made up a mount using the hose nipple for the fuel tank. He wasn't using the RH tank and made a saddle that fit into the hose for the fuel filler, it cradled the tank with two hose clamps to secure it.

I don't know which was used originally, the plain round type or the Harrison type. I've seen some original Lola Mk2 or Mk3 tank mounts and they were made for the Harrison tank because they have a relief for the ridge around the center of the tank.
