Gardner Douglas T70 build

Postby CM-TOTB » Wed Feb 13, 2008 10:20 am

i've just about finished the car other than a few minor niggles touch wood. :)
will post the link to some pics in a second as i dont yet have a phot bucket account.

anyone on here knowledgeable about 4 barrel carb tuning (Barry Grant Demon 750cfm) as i'm just about to get some dyno tuning done on the car. (mechanical secondaries). whats the right Air fuel ratio to aim for on a n/a V8 carb'd engine bearing in mind its been built for sprints/hillclimbs and trackdays rather than road use?

engine is a 5.7l Ls1, mild cam, GM performance inlet manifold, carb, MSD ignition unit (runs std coilpacks via cam/crank sensors). tubular headers, 3" exhausts . I have fitted an ARE dry sump conversion, with twin oil coolers and remote oil filter.
g box is an inverted 911 G50 5 speed, running a triple plate clutch and custom bellhousing adaptor supplied by Gardner Douglas.
brakes are AP racing 4 pot 335mm all round, tyres are 255-40-17 front and 335-30-18 rear Toyo 888s.
cheers
chris

cheers Johan
once its finished i may have some retro style vinyl graphics applied, and will post up some more pictures then. I was thinking along the lines of a solid white stripe/pinstripes or similar to one of the early surtees cars rather than the triangle style front end scheme of his later cars.

i intend sprinting and hillclimbs with it within the next 2 seasons along with some trackdays.
