T490 Series cars

Postby wdavies39 » Tue Feb 05, 2008 4:48 pm

Just researching the evolution of the T490, 492 and 497 sports racers.

Am I right in thinking that the cars are essentially the same - the 490 came first, and was then followed by an almost identical 492 model for S2000 racing and the 497 as a "winged" development of the 490. If this is correct, can anyone tell me:

1. The differences between the 490 an 492, if any, and
2. The differences between the 490 and 497 other than the wing.

Thanks - need it for an article I'm writing.

The T496 should also be included in your list. SCCA C sports with Cosworth BDH.

Walter, I think I have a T 490:

From what i have read/been told, the 490 was a front rad Sports racer which very quickly (after about 10 cars) had the rads placed in the side pods.
The side pods etc could be purchased from Lola to conver the early cars.
The T 490 has 2 holes for the rad pipes in the top right corner of the front bulkhead, missing on the T 492's.

See here:

Avid hillclimber, just bought a Lola T 492 to hillclimb.
