T140 wheels

Postby jcblola » Sun Sep 30, 2007 11:44 pm

Can anyone help I wish to buy a complete set of wheels to suit my T140?
As a new owner I would like a second set.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Phil Schmidt of PSE wheels in Los Angeles makes reproduction Lola T-70 and T-140 wheels. They are all aluminum however.

There is another source in the Eastern US that may be making a batch of wheels sometime next year. These will be in Magnesium.

David

I'd be interested in mag wheels for my T-142 (I assume the dimensions are identical to the T-140). Do I have to file my interest through you or the company you mention directly?

Thanks, Reto

Lee Chapman is the fellow you need to contact for Mag Wheels. Please tell him you discussed it with me.

For your information, I sent him an Email a month ago and did not receive a reply. If you don't receive a reply in a week or two, give him a call.

Look here for his web page: http://www.leechapmanracing.com/

I discussed it with him recently, and he was going to make some either this winter or next winter.

I believe a T-140 would use 8" front wheels, and 12" rear wheels. A 140 uses a T-70 front wheel of 8" with 2.5" back space, and T-70 rear of 12" with 4.5" back space.

A T-142 wold use 10" front and 14" rear wheel widths. A 142 has an extended front hub face that allows use of a T-70 rear wheel of 10" (4.5" back space) to fit. Rear wheels use the same 4.5" back space as T-70.

The above is all just my best guess. I have a T-140 so am pretty sure of that model and the T-142 wheel combinations are in need of confirmation.

Can you confirm your front hubs have the wheel mounting surface almost flush with the spindle end?

Thanks very much for your info and insights, David.

The 1969 season wheel specs for the 142 are actually 10" in the front and 17" rear, both 15" diameter magnesium. I already have the rears, but haven't found good fronts yet.

Can't answer or confirm your question yet. The wheel parts I have are now with Chris Fox for a rebuild...

Other question: I have the original copper? radiator, heavy as an anvil. Would you suggest to reproduce one in aluminium?

Regards, Reto

T140 wheels

Postby jcblola » Sun Oct 14, 2007 9:47 am

Guys
The front for both the T140 and T142 are 10"
Rears for T140 14" T142 17"
Have spoken to Phil from PS Eng and he can only do wheels in the Cobra 427 SC style.
My car currently has BBS style wheels so I guess using the Cobra style is not a real issue, would be nice to get a Lola style set tho.
Sorry I cannot be of more help.

My T140 requires a back space of 2.5". Is there a 10" front wheel with that back space?

Phil was going to check a T140 he knew.
He is going to make wheels to suit my needs.
Do you have a T140 as well?
If so would like to check some info.
Cheers.
