about to buy a Lola t-70 MKIIIb need advice

Postby gary kiebel » Tue Jul 17, 2007 2:15 am

I am about to buy a Lola t-70 MKIIIb need advice; the person who has it has it registered for the street but is a tinkerer so. He has no History worked as a mechanic in F1 and bought it about 10 years ago. there has been many changes

a porsche 930R transmission
all lights added
oil coolers removed
etc

Questions'
where is the chassie number located?
I want to verify that it is real what are the sugestions?

I know I will have to have some electrical redone
I know I will need to rebuild the suspensuin bearings, bushings, etc
I know I will have to rebuild the st4earing box and shaft bearings

Massive clean up and then the cosmetics.

How do you locate parts?
I am in southern California who to contact for assistance?

What is a used 1969 Lola T-70 MK III b worth?

Gary, you would have to post pictures in order for us to see what you have there. No T70 MK IIIbs are missing as far as I know, but I do not know much. The number is on a chassis tag that is riveted to the chassis.
Post pictures for further clarification. It could be a Can Am tub with a 3b body on it. Can't tell without pictures.

Took some pictures but cannot download until tomorrow. But there was a chassie number on it . The owner now 70 years old thinks it was added to get it registered for the street. But it looks official. the number is T-70 MK 3B HUS 173 016 as best I could make out.

I will post tomorrow night some pictures.

Strange chassis number. So near yet not quite right.
Mk3b ok. HU- huntingdon. S 173 - SL 73? Mk3 016
Could be an early continuation, but doesn't ring any bells, although the HU bit would follow. 3B should be SL/76 or HU/76 for a continuation.
Could just be a ringer. Like Johan say's, without photos it's hard to tell.

Gary,

why don`t you email the pics to one of the admins?

They sure know a way as how to bring them up on this topic.

Best,

Marcus
