T70 MK 3 & MK3 B

Postby petestenning » Wed Apr 18, 2007 5:57 am

Hi ,
I am new to this forum and as a personal quest i am collating information on the Lola T70 mk3 and 3B Coupes.

I have John Starkey's original book which i used as a guide.

I am in contact with people through many other forums, only just realised that Lola Heritage site had a forum.

As a 16yo i watched the Easter meeting at Snetterton in 1969 and fell in love with the T70, still in my eyes the most beautiful sports racer ever.

I would be happy to help update the information on any car i can when i receive it from the other forums.

Unfortunately i have no contact in the states so information on the where abouts of present cars would be a help.

Also can the historians tell me how many of the Continuation series have been made as i consider these as part of the history of the T70?

Sorry for the long post.

Hi Pete

Make sure you have John Starkey's latest (third?) edition as there were certainly corrections from the first two. Even then, from talking to a few owners, some of the information is said not to be completely accurate.

Lola has records of all T70s built - and who they were sold to - although this can be a little difficult to decipher. Where all the survivors are now is even more of a challenge.

Good luck!

Thanks Rob that is where i am aiming to srtart with the whereabouts of the alleged chassis today, i realise this may be more dificult the finding the chassis no 's of the cars and where they went to startwith.

Also there is the point that some cars have now become 2, Take the Hawkins car crashed at Oulton in 69, and also the trend to re-chassis using a number previous used.

Finding pictures of cars used today are ok but finding what chassis they proport to be is a challenge.

Wonder how many would object to a bloke sticking his head round their car at meeting taking photos of chassis plates lol.

After joining i found the post on the Continuation cars which will be easier with Heritage help to trace.

So here is a challange i need photos of the cars that can be found today along with the chassis plate.

There were two Lola T70 Mk3 in Japan.
One of these was restored in Japan and sold to Europe.
I will post this chassis plate in next posting.

SL73/116

Thank you , that does confirm that chassis SL73/116 went to Japan as per my information .

The other car should have been chassis SL73/130.

I have been told both these cars were run by Taki Racing.

Yes, Taki Racing Team bought two Lola T70 Mk3.
They got these in late 1967 and entered 1968 Japanese GP.
