Desperatly seeking B06/10 Hu02 / Hu03 / Hu04 ....

Postby LolaFan » Mon Mar 05, 2007 9:36 pm

As far as my records are clear and up to date B06/10 cars that raced last year bared the following chassis numbers:

Dyson #16 Hu01
Dyson #20 Hu06
Chamberlain S.M. #19 Hu07 ( confirmed by Mister Hugues himself )

It's pretty unusual to get such a gap in chassis numbers for a new model ...

Question is: Where are 02-03-04-05 gone ?
Where they crashed when testing, lost in the woods, deported to Australia ....
Please help me find these poor lads !

Hi LolaFan, as soon as I get a chance I'll have a look at the Lola chassis logs for the B06/10 and see what they can tell you :).

Actually at Petit last year, #16 was 06 and #20 was 01. My understanding is that the Cytosport car was the #20 but because the tub was changed out after the Petit wreck, it is now Hu01S, as the (damaged) original 01 tub is a video game console at the Dyson race shops.

I'll be seeing the Cytosport car either tomorrow or Friday in Long Beach and intend on confirming the chassis #.

Sorry, completely forgot to reply to this .

Unfortunately (and don't ask me why) Lola stopped preparing chassis logs a couple of years back so there is nothing there for th B06/10. It might be possible to track the numbers from Invoices, I'll see if I can find out anything more.

things are not getting better:

Present at Le Mans TestDays I had the chance to get plate number of Swiss Spirit B07/18 - B07/10 Hu01.
But when it came to the Charouz's car even the team was unable to tell me which one it was. On the other hand it appears here and there that Charouz's would be a B07/17 with plate number as follow : B06/10 Hu03 !!!!

If it's true then
- why is the car called B07/17 ( delivered in 2007 ? ) ???
- where has Hu02 gone ?

I have nearly the same problem with the Fernandez B05/40 called B06/40 something ... is it B05/40 Hu07 ?

I had to make some enquiries about this to get it all straight for the "Type Numbers" page. If I understand it correctly Lola are now using different type numbers according to the engine fitted in the sportscars.

The Fernandez car is the same as the B07/40 but as it was delivered in 2006 it is listed as a B06/43, the "3" is for the Acura version of the design. The B-K Motorsports ALMS car is B07/46 i.e. it is the B07/40 design, the "6" is for the Mazda version. Back in 2005 the B05/40 became the B05/42 with the Zytek engine fitted.

The Charouz car has been listed as B07/17 but when I checked this I was told that this was an error by the Charouz team and Lola called the car a B07/10. Why it has a B06/10 chassis plate is a mystery, either somebody at Lola is confused about their type numbers or the chassis plate is "incorrect". It may be that when the plate was made there was some confusion about whether the car counted as a B06/10 or a B07/10. There might be a different number for the Audi car but if there is I haven't heard it!

Since there aren't any Chassis Logs to check :(, I cant be sure about the chassis numbers. At a guess it has been common practice with Lola for many years where a new type number is only an update of a previous design to carry on the numbering from the previous type. Therefore it might be that the B07/40 chassis numbers carry on from the B06/40 and possibly even the B05/40. The same may well apply to the B06/10 - B07/10 cars.

It's all very confusing :?.

Thanks Gerald for trying your best ...
Last digit is no problem to me since I've got that it is connected with the type of engine though i still don't get the basic rule ...
With former models: evolution chassis were denominated with an extra B and numbering was going on. Rule is fully respected with B98/10 - B2K/10 and B2K40 and even with more ancient models like the T280 family.

I assumed at first that it might be the same for B05/40 updates meaning
- Fernandez as being Hu07
- B-K's Hu08 and Hu09
But when it came clear - and I saw it with me eyes - that Swiss Spirit car was B07/17 - Hu01 .... what to think !

Many thanks Hugewally : you are confirming that for B05/40 family numbers are running on according to the "update" rule

But with B06/10 family everything is still uncertain:
Hu01 : Dyson wrecked at PLM
Hu02: -> Hu01S delivered to Dyson now CitySport ??
Hu03: Charouz
Hu04 ??
Hu05 ??

Hu06: ex Dyson now Velocity MotorSport
Hu07: Chamberlain
and
B07/10 Hu01 : Swiss Spirit

Considering those conclusions and last infos I guess I should merge my site racing scores pages for B05/40-B07/40 (for sure) and may be wait a bit for B06/10-B07/10

Update from Janos Wimpffen

2006 ALMS Petit Le Mans -
Dyson #16 - HU 06
Dyson #20 - HU 02

HU 02 was wrecked at Petit and the tub was replace with Hu 01S and then sold to Cytosport.

Thanks for update .. though it brings some more confusion as far as Dyson's cars were supposed to be Hu01 and Hu06 !!!
Question is now: since when Dyson had Hu02 and where is Hu01 ?

AFAIK, Dyson only had the two B06 chassis. Disregard my earlier confusion (and post) about them having HU 01. At the moment I have no idea where it is. I'll see what I can come up with.

BTW - the Cytosport HU 01 S is a new tub to replace the wrecked Dyson car from the '06 Petit (#20 - HU 02).
