Lola T290 Abarth cars

Postby driftwood » Sat Aug 12, 2006 1:04 pm

I am interested to find any info and ideally photos of the Lola T290 Abarth engined cars
I believe only 2 cars had the engines
1 is the Facetti driven car Owned by Enzo Osella i think this car is HU7
I have written to Enzo but no reply yet ( any italian speakers here who can call him on the phone? )

the WSPR site has 290 Lola listing hu 14 & 15 down as abarth cars but i know this is wrong as they went to Minel racing team according to a frenchman

I know 1 car was run on the European Mountain championship in 1 race in 1972 by Franco Polini and that 1 car was run in the Italian sports car series at the 2 Monza events by Roberto Filannino

I have had communications with Silvio Moser`s mechanic and he said the car is is still with the original owner Nicodemi was Ford power not Abarth
However it is possible that for 72 event they raced the Facetti Osella owned car- he is trying to recall the event info as he did not attend
He looked after the car later in the year for Nicodemi and also the later 294 BMW car of Moser until his fateful crash
I have these names and events for reference and i have 1 car running in Interserie race by Truffo in 73 or 4

Coppa Ignazio Giunti 23-Apr-72 Lola T290 Abarth 2.0 8 C. Facetti
Targa Florio 21-May-72 Lola T290 Abarth 2.0 9 S. Moser A. Nicodemi
Austrian 1000 kms 25-Jun-72 Lola T290 Abarth 2.0 25 S. Moser A. Nicodemi
Monza 1000 kms 25-Apr-73 Lola T290 Abarth 2.0 49 G. Schon 'Pal Joe'
Monza 1000 kms 25-Apr-73 Lola T290 Abarth 2.0 56 M. Crosina R. Filaninno
Targa Florio 13-May-73 Lola T290 Abarth 2.0 25 S. Moser A. Nicodemi
Targa Florio 13-May-73 Lola T290 Abarth 2.0 49 M. Crosina P. Pogliano
Autosprint 500 16-Sep-73 Lola T290 Abarth 2.0 M. Polin

Thanks Wolfgang
I am way ahead of this info now ( i have that book and dijon 1000 km and monza 1000 km )
I am seeking more photos and more race results etc
i have a list of 11 european sports car drivers i think there where 2 abarth lola cars-i found derek bell raced car once in 1973

i also have 1 guy on european mountain race and another driver in monza races in 72
it is all these guys i seek info on now as im sure there were 2 cars of which 1 will be the Osella owned abarth powered car that Facttti raced

We do not have any Italian readers to assist me with race results or news from Autosprint
Alain Hache has been helpful with french magazine report
I also read in someweb results that lola 292 has Ferraris engine- is this a ferrari or is Ferraris a tuner like Richardson doing Ford engine?

Hi driftwood,

you wrote: " is the Facetti driven car Owned by Enzo Osella i think this car is HU7"
Facetti drove the Lola Abarth in Vallelunge 23.4.1972. HU7 was sold to Vincenzo Osella dated 5.5.1972 and have a stamp from the tax-office dated 18.5.1972.
Perhaps Vincenzo Ossela buy more than one car?

Hi drifewood,

About the Lola T290 chassic-numbers HU1 to HU6 we know the history, without chassic-number HU4! HU4 sold LOLA to Bonnier at 10.2.1972, this date fit to the Osella-car driven by Facetti.

do you find any fotos of Zadra driving lola 290 in 1972 races in european events his crash at Vallelunga or targa floria wher he finished 4th
the TF results i have said he appered with new car a sthis is after the Vallelunga crash but Zadra appears at the french european race aftre targa floria in his original vallelunga chassis
So did he have a new car or was it new monocoque with all his original car parts fitted
at present i do not have the obvious dates to see if it is possible for 1 -2 weeks rebuild the car and get to Sicily in time
I am told that antonio zadra died a few years ago so it is not possible to ask him and now i seek Brescia Corse team memebers for info
