07/03/07 - LOLA-MAZDA BREAKS COVER!

The new Lola-Mazda LMP2 racer hit the track for the first time yesterday in readiness for the Sebring 12 Hours in 10 days time.

The car, to be run by BK Motorsports and featuring the all new Mazda MZR-R four cylinder turbo engine, completed 26 trouble free laps before being packed away and immediately shipped to Florida. Up and coming British sportscar racer, Ben Devlin undertook the shakedown test and was delighted with the way it went despite the wet and windy conditions.

Lola engineers Julian Sole and David Scotney were on-hand at the test and both will travel out to Sebring this weekend.

Mazda Motorsport boss John Donnan was also present and was delighted with the Lola and was looking forward to the season ahead, saying: "

“We’ve chosen a group of partners that we have confidence in - AER, Lola, Kumho - and I’m pleased. We have a great partnership with Lola and a fast developing partnership with AER. Perhaps there will be more cars to come?”

The Sebring 12 Hours kicks off at mid day on Saturday 17th March. Watch this space for a full preview and coverage from the sportscar season opening classic.
