04/03/07 - CHAROUZ ANNOUNCE DRIVERS
Charouz Racing System today finalised its driver line up for the 2007 calendar. Stefan Mücke and Malaysian ex Minardi F1 driver Alex Yoong team up with Jan Charouz to complete the driver selection. The trio will race in the entire Le Mans Series, the legendary 24 hour Le Mans race and in two prestigious U.S races (Petit Le Mans and Laguna Seca) in the American Le Mans Series. They will compete in the all new Lola Judd LMP1B07/10 sportscar.

Stefan and Alex, both experienced and very quick drivers, are newcomers to the Czech team. Stefan is a very experienced twenty-five year old from Berlin with five seasons behind him in the DTM championship. Prior to that, he shined in Formula 3 (International vice champion of Germany in 2001) and was champion of German Formula BMW (1998). Besides racing in the Czech team, he will also participate in FIA Grand Turismo (Lamborghini Murcielago of team Reiter).

Thirty year old Alex Yoong from Kuala Lumpur brings to the team his experience from F1 where he drove for Minardi in 15 Grand Prix events with his best result being 7th place in Australia in 2002. Alex also drove in Champcar and in the Australian V8 Supercar series. Last year he raced in the Le Mans 24 hours with two other ex F1 pilots Stefan Johansson and Jan Lammers in the Dome Judd prototype. Alex is the No 1 driver for Team Malaysia participating in A1 Grand Prix - World Cup of Nations and has two outright wins at Brno to his credit this season.

Antonin Charouz said of the announcement: "Stefan and Alex will be a great asset for us. They are experienced and fast. Alex will bring two British engineers from Malaysian A1 Grand Prix team."

Along with both drivers, their sponsors will come with them which can help us strengthen a quality team budget. Besides Le Mans Series, where newly there is a Mil Milhas race in Brazil and 24 hour Le Mans and we will also drive in two American races. A 10-hour Petit Le Mans in Atlanta and a popular event on Laguna Seca track.”
