09/01/06 - BINNIE MOTORSPORT TO CHANGE TO ZYTEK ENGINE IN THEIR LMP2 LOLA

Binnie Motorsports are pleased to announce that they have entered into a new engine deal to run the Zytek V8 normally aspirated engine in their Lola B05/40 LMP2 car for the 2006 season.

William Binnie, Team Principal of Binnie Motorsports said, “We are delighted to be working with Zytek and are extremely optimistic about the speed and capabilities of this newly re-engined race car”

“Our 2006 schedule includes the Sebring 12 Hours and the European Le Mans 1000km races, our 2006 season’s ambition is the 24 Heures du Mans. We believe it is important to state that we are a fully committed and funded race team and it is our intention to compete in both Europe and the United States during 2006. We were extremely disappointed with 2005 when we experienced multiple engine failures during the season resulting in a very frustrating year, but we are upbeat about the new Zytek engine and our prospects. We showed excellent pace in 2005 and think that this new engine change and the support of Zytek will be extremely helpful; we are very optimistic about 2006. We are planning an extensive testing program over the winter in the United States leading up to Sebring and then over to Europe to compete in the Le Mans Series.”

Binnie Motorsports competed in the Sebring 12 Hour and the European Le Mans Series during the 2005 season.

William Binnie is the 2004 24 Heures du Mans LMP 2 champion. He has been involved in all forms of modern and historic Motorsports for many years including ALMS, LMES and Le Mans as well as the Goodwood Historic Festival, BRDC Championship and the Ferrari Shell Challenge. William, who was born in Scotland, resides in the United States and has dual British and American nationalities.

The first race for the team will be the Sebring 12 Hour in March.
