LOLA HERITAGE SCRAPBOOK

Widely acknowledged as the most picturesque race circuit in the country, Oulton Park is recognised as much for its stunning surroundings as the spectacular racing that takes place on its hallowed tarmac.

It was therefore fitting that through the generosity and excellent organisation of our friends at Motor Sport Vision and the Historic Sports Car Club Lola Cars unveiled and demonstrated the first of the T70 Mkll Spyder Continuation cars over the weekend of the Gold Cup meeting.

Built to comply with the FIA requirements for Historic Technical Passport, the Mkll is built using many of the original drawings and jigs, which remain in Lola Cars possession since 1966. The current regulations require the car to be built using traditional craftsmanship and materials. Modern technology is used solely to provide safety features to contemporary standards such as fuel tanks, seat belts and fire extinguishers.

The car shown at Oulton Park was chassis number T70 HU50 and made an impressive track debut in Monday’s parade driven by Lola test driver Ron Cumming.
