2006 has seen the first of Lola’s ‘Heritage’ Continuation cars take to the tracks of Europe.
Owned and driven by Esmond and Andrew Smith the bright red MklllB has appeared at the Le Mans Classic, Silverstone and twice at Spa. The stunning car is a representation of the 1969 Fillipinetti entered T70. Great care was taken to ensure that the detail was correct, even to having custom-made copies of all the original stickers and advertisements.
The new car is rolled out of the factory for the first time for a family photo. May 2006.
Spa, July 2006.. Andrew Smith takes
the T70 MklllB to it’s first victory - in only it’s second event.
Finishing touches are applied at the assembly shop.
The engine and gearbox.
Front suspension.
Andrew Smith heads into the Becketts sweepers during the
Silverstone Classic, the cars first UK appearance.
A study in concentration! Esmond Smith prepares for his
practice run at Silverstone.
Between practice and race the crew stretch out and perhaps do some checks on the car...
...under the watchful eye of Team Boss Clive Robinson.
With that wonderful line what else could the car be but a Lola T70.
